President Benigno Aquino III on Friday said he had a "pleasant" first telephone discussion with President-elect Rodrigo Duterte whom he complimented.
"It was a short discussion," Aquino told individuals from the Malacañang Press Corps at an eatery in Binondo, Manila.
Aquino figured out how to converse with Duterte via telephone when the President-elect's staff went by Malacañang on Thursday.
Individuals from his staff went to the Executive Secretary (Paquito Ochoa Jr.) yesterday (Thursday). The Executive Secretary conveyed them to me.
We shared some of our encounters throughout the previous six years to them," he said.
Duterte's delegates then called Duterte with the goal that he may converse with Mr. Aquino.
"We had a short discussion wherein I saluted him, (we) asked each other how we were. What's more, I reiterated the offer to be of help," Mr. Aquino told the media.
He described the discussion as "pleasant."
Mr. Aquino said Duterte did not dismiss his offer of assistance.
He said his group was prepared to help the approaching organization on the move thus they wouldn't need to "rehash the wheel."
The President said he told approaching Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea that he trusted the Duterte Administration would "continue build of the things that (his legislature has) started… "
